yoga bricks, blocks and props
Yoga Props refer to a range of yoga equipment and accessories used to help support you in your yoga practice. We offer an extensive range of props including yoga bricks and blocks, yoga blankets, straps or belts and bolsters...
- Yoga Bricks and Blocks are often used to support you in either seated or standing poses, either to bring the ground closer (so that you are not stretching outside your comfortable and safe range of movement) or to help you achieve alignment. Over time, you may not need these props as much but you may always prefer to use them as they allow you to be relaxed and supported in a pose and also allow plenty of space and openness in the body. Some teachers may not advocate the use props but many do, so to be guided by your teacher, but listen to how your body feels too and be guided by the feedback you get from your body.
- Yoga Straps & Belts are useful for helping with finding length and space in seated and standing postures, to give you the essence of ‘connection’, for example from your fingers to your toes, even when you physically can’t reach. Some teachers use them to help ‘bind’ you in poses, where you may not be able to make that connection on your own. Try not to be tempted to use the strap or belt to pull yourself more deeply into a pose or to ‘bounce’ more deeply into a pose than your current, natural, safe and comfortable range of movement.
- Yoga Bolsters can be filled with various fillings but we usually supply Kapok filled bolsters and they are supportive but also light weight and therefore easy to carry and move. Bolsters can be used to support various yoga postures but in addition to this, they can be used in conjunction with other bolsters and blankets to support the body in ‘restorative’ poses and relaxation practices.
